The key to the study on the origin of the traditional new year paintings and its connection between new year paintings and rock paintings lies in the fact that Chinese festivals are combination of faith and aesthetics. The earliest rock paintings can be dated back to new year paintings, which are carved on the earth. Rock paintings and new year paintings both reflect carnival consciousness. In the transformation and acceptance of cultural narrative, both rock paintings and new year paintings have effectively completed the production of various media, and showcased the expressions of exaggeration and deformation. Rock paintings are not only the carrier of new year paintings. As they are themed with the primitive civilization mainly featured by primitive mythology and primitive art, rock paintings are also important origin of culture.
